this one's for Derik

Derik said he saw panels in the ghost image under the truck sketch the other day, and so he did: Here in this little nonsense comic.

I remember now why I don't post too many things out of my sketchbook anymore. The book is 9" x 12" and my scanner can only take a little more than 8.5" x 11". That means I have to scan everything twice and piece it together in photoshop. Very annoying.
I am too stubborn (or lazy - or cheap) to buy a new - smaller - sketchbook however, so I guess I just have to live with it...

i love the red and the blue and the bubble coming out of the lady's mouth on the bottom and how the bubble transgressses the red-blue border!

did you draw it first with a pencil?

also, one solution to the big-sketchbook little-scanner problem would be to draw smaller in the center of the page -- no?

Thank you. I went straight to the marker with the red but I did lightly pencil some of the bubbles before jumping into the blue.

Well, there's another flaw in the design of the scanner in that the bed is recessed and surrounded by a lip of plastic - the body of the scanner. I can balance the book on that okay, and center the drawing in the "workable" area, but then the drawing doesn't contact the glass at all. That contact point is where the eye is set to focus so the scans come out all fuzzy - like a slightly out of focus photograph.

Someday I'll get a smaller book. I want something a little more portable anyway...
